I'm Makenna!

I have a special place for family, lifestyle newborn and Fresh 48 sessions, since creating my own family. I married my high school sweetheart in 2017 and have since added to our family in the furry & human categories. We have 3 wild dogs, Theo, Finnley & Ruger and a cat, Mazikeen. We have 2 beautiful children (son & daughter) earth side and one perfect baby in heaven.

I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in Park Rapids in North Central Minnesota. Before starting a family I spent my time playing hockey & snowboarding. I joined the United States Army at 17. After returning from training I started college in Duluth and the next year my husband and I purchased our first home. We have now lived in the Twin Ports Area for over 5 years & recently relocated to "the boonies" south of Cloquet. We have loved making this area our home.

I have had a long photography journey. From starting out as a kid, to buying my first DSLR camera once I got back from Basic Training when I was a senior, taking a handful of friends senior pictures, being my company's photographer through AIT (military job training), after returning home started diving in to more family and senior photography. In college I was a sports photographer for 3 years, photographing everything from hockey to baseball to soccer, I sure loved that job! After having my son I started picking up more weddings and really focused on starting my business.

 

Since then I've had the honor of photographing so many important milestones in so many peoples lives, from engagements, to weddings, their first baby (or their fourth), birthdays, families, and seniors. And that's not even all of it! I truly love what I do and look forward to capturing these moments for you for years to come! Starting my career in photography has been one of the easiest choices I've made and haven't looked back since!
